Animation Film Festival in Lisbon
Monstra is Portugal’s leading animation film festival and one of the most recognised in Europe. Held every year in March in Lisbon, the festival brings together over 500 animated films – features, shorts and very shorts – from around the world, in a programme that combines competition, retrospectives, exhibitions, workshops and conferences.
Founded in 2000 by artistic director Fernando Galrito, Monstra has grown well beyond the boundaries of the capital. Today it takes the best of national and international animation to more than 40 cities across Portugal each year, and has already been present in 151 cities on five continents – establishing Lisbon as a world reference point for the animation industry.
The festival runs across multiple venues in the city simultaneously, with screenings for audiences of all ages – from the Monstrinha children’s programme to competitive showcases for industry professionals and film enthusiasts. The parallel programme includes training sessions, talks and panels with internationally recognised directors, producers and animators.
Private Transport to Monstra with Amiroad
Monstra brings delegations of directors, producers, animators and international partners to Lisbon every year, moving between airports, hotels and the various festival venues across the city. For teams and guests arriving from abroad, transport logistics are an essential part of the experience.
Amiroad offers a dedicated private transport service for industry professionals, jury members, VIP guests and groups of visitors who want to experience the festival in comfort and without logistical concerns. With a fleet ranging from executive cars to minibuses, we adapt the service to the size and schedule of each group.
The festival is already considered a distinct event in Lisbon’s cultural scene from national and international viewpoints. Our main goal is to conquer new cities in Portugal and continue to reach international attention. However, essentially, we wish to reach the gaze, mind and heart of many children, youngsters and adults, in the hope they will join the almost half a million people who have watched cinema through the “lenses” of MONSTRA and MONSTRINHA.”
